SHINE’s research focuses on the health and well-being of the workplace. While our research up to date has been mostly around the workforce – from office employees to factory workers and the supply chain – we are adding a new cohort, CEOs and senior management. As noted by Dr. Eileen McNeely, while Harvard and others have conducted significant research on workplace well-being, the focus has been on employee well-being and little has been done at the C-suite level of an organization. The Executive Leadership Well-being Survey was developed together with longtime SHINE member Johnson & Johnson, an early SHINE thought partner who worked with us to create the original Worker Well-being Survey.
Through this research we aim to:
- Identify the most prevalent sources of stress for CEOs and senior management and the associated impact on their health, well-being, and personal and leadership performance
- Create awareness among senior leaders about the impact of their own well-being on personal and organizational performance both in and outside of the workplace
- Inform the design and development of new approaches and resources to support senior leader health, well-being, and performance.
We will be reaching out to senior managers and leaders of Fortune 1000 and Forbes 2000 companies in the next month.
If you’re a CEO or senior manager of a Fortune 1000 or Forbes 2000 company and would like to participate in our study, please reach out to Karoline at kbarwin@hsph.harvard.edu.
