New Paper on Human Flourishing in Cross-Cultural Settings

A new paper published by SHINE researchers investigates human flourishing in five culturally distinct populations. In this study we present two measures of human flourishing with psychometric support for their application to culturally distinct populations. Comparisons were made between states of human flourishing in Cambodia, China, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and United States. This paper aimed to identify drivers for worker well-being (such as job satisfaction, worker engagement, and self-assessed work performance) among Mexican apparel factory workers and their association with work outcomes, controlling for demographic, socioeconomic, and job-related variables. New paper on legacy health effects among never smokers exposed to occupational secondhand smoke

A new study on the effects of secondhand smoke on never smokers has just been published by SHINE Harvard researchers.  The study reports associations between legacy secondhand tobacco smoke (SHTS) exposure going back decades and several severe cardiovascular and respiratory outcomes, including MI, PAD, and repeated pneumonia.  The researchers found no evidence of positive associations between SHTS and any cancer, but observed associations between SHTS and cardiac outcomes, including myocardial infarction (OR =…
